Man returns to thank Botetourt County rescue workers after motorcycle crash

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A seriously injured man returned Saturday to thank Botetourt County emergency responders for saving his life after a motorcycle accident.

According to the Botetourt County Fire and Emergency Services Department, the man spent 45 days in the hospital before recovering.

The man was flown to the hospital in late April after a motorcycle accident in Botetourt County.

According to emergency officials, emergency crews were dispatched to a motorcycle accident at the 101-mile marker of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

According to firefighters, the man was found 30 metres above the embankment and nearly two dozen rescue workers were busy evacuating the motorcyclist using hoists and rope equipment.

According to emergency responders, the victim was transported to a Level 1 trauma center by Carilion Clinic EMS.
