A North Texas assistant principal who had to be flown to the hospital by helicopter after being injured by a student is now back home and resting.

Candra Rogers, assistant principal at Corsicana ISD's Collins Intermediate School, was injured last Thursday in an incident the school district described as a “disruption to instruction.”

In an update during a meeting Monday evening, Corsicana ISD said Candra Rogers had left the hospital.

Few details have been released about the incident, but the school district says it occurred in a classroom where fewer than 10 students were present.

The student was arrested and released into the custody of his parents. The Navarro County District Attorney's Office said no further information would be released due to the student's age.

According to the district, Rogers came to Corsicana ISD last year.

Fundraisers for Rogers are being planned, including a jeans day on Friday with proceeds going to the Rogers family.

The district is also collecting gift vouchers for the family.
