Police say incident of driving aggression in Mount Pleasant led to shooting

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) – Mount Pleasant Police are investigating a case of road rage between two men that resulted in one shooting the other.

Police responded to the intersection of Six Mile Road and Rifle Range Road around 8:27 p.m. Thursday for a report of a shooting.

An incident report said the shooting victim, a 56-year-old Charlotte man, was lying on the ground. A second man was holding a towel over his face and pacing the street, the report said.

There was a motorcycle and a black SUV on the street. Several people were standing nearby.

According to police, the man was injured on the ground and the bullet went “through and through” the man's lower left back. Passersby tried to comfort the gunshot victim and police rendered aid until emergency services arrived.

Police recovered the firearm used in the shooting and found it lying on the ground between the SUV and the motorcycle, the report said.
