“Stop killing women in Gaza”

On Tuesday, pro-Palestinian protests again occurred at the Democratic National Convention, this time in the form of an event organized by the convention's Women's Caucus.

Groups of masked pro-Palestinian protesters have attempted to storm DNC events and organize demonstrations to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. The Chicago-based advocacy group Direct Actions for Palestine claimed responsibility for some of the actions, calling them part of its “Hell Week.”

Video from Chicago reporter Mary Ann Ahern shows protesters at the DNC Women's Caucus rally wrestling with a uniformed security guard. They were holding banners and chanting “Stop killing women in Gaza.” The security guard appears to be escorting the protesters away from the scene.

Some participants at the event apparently drowned out the protests with shouts of “USA!” Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was also reportedly present at the event.

In a statement to The National Desk on Monday, the DNC said it would “respect the work of protecting free speech while ensuring a safe convention for all participants.”

Several DNC delegates have chosen to remain “undecided” in protest against the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the ongoing war in Gaza.

“Vice President Harris supports the agreements currently on the table for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the release of the hostages,” the Harris campaign said in a statement. “She will continue to meet with leaders of the Palestinian, Muslim, Israeli and Jewish communities, as she has done throughout her term as Vice President.”

Senator John Fetterman, Democrat of Pennsylvania, will not attend the DNC this week, he said in an interview with The Free Press. The senator is a vocal supporter of Israel, a stance that is at odds with that of his Democratic colleagues.

In this context, Senator Fetterman told the publication: “I keep saying, just like the convention, it's not about me.”

“One of the biggest backstabbers in modern Democratic politics is John Fetterman, but I'm going to wait until after the election to deal with him,” grumbled longtime Democratic strategist James Carville on his podcast. “He's someone you have to deal with, and in real time.”
