One person charged and one on the run after July murder in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Springs police say one man has been charged and another is on the run in the suspected murder of David Charles Compare.

Compare was found dead by police in the Knob Hill area on Saturday, July 27. They say he appeared to have suffered at least one gunshot wound and his death is being investigated as a homicide.

Police issued an arrest warrant for 49-year-old Victor Carson on August 1 for the murder of Compare. Carson is not in custody as of the publication of this article. If you have any information about him or his whereabouts, you are asked to call CSPD at (719)444-7000.

On August 8, police learned that another man allegedly involved in Compare's death was in custody at the Bent County Jail on other charges. Roger Vargas, 36, was charged with murder and remains in custody.

According to police, Compare's death was the 23rd homicide this year.
