Alicia Silverstone appears to eat highly poisonous berries on video

Famous actress Alicia Silverstone caused a stir on social media when she posted a video on Monday of herself chewing on what her fans believe to be a poisonous berry.

In the video, she asked her fans if they had any idea what she was eating.

“I found something and I don't know what it is and I need your help,” the 47-year-old star told her fans. “I just took a bite because I was on the street and we were discussing whether it was a tomato or not. Based on the leaves, it's definitely not a tomato.”

“So what the hell is this?” she continued, immediately popping the berry into her mouth.

Silverstone held up the unknown food to the camera for her 4.3 million followers to see. The berry was orange and appeared to contain quite a few seeds.

Then she continued: “I don't think you can eat it. But it tastes almost like a pepper!”

She turned to her fans again, winked at the camera and said: “Does anyone know what this is? I need someone to tell me. I'm in England.”

Fans immediately responded by flooding the comments section with warnings and panicked messages expressing their concern for the star.

Some fans warned her, saying the plant was a “poisonous” Jerusalem cherry and desperately asked the actress to tell them she was fine.

Other fans made cheeky references to her starring role in “Clueless,” saying the star “obviously had no idea” what she was trying to accomplish by eating the alien plant.

Someone wrote: “Girl! Berries are either great or damn poisonous! Don't eat random bush stuff.”

Fans generally agreed that Silverstone should not be allowed to bite into something if she has no idea what it is or what damage it could potentially cause if swallowed. (RELATED: Famous singer admits to having a near-fatal mushroom trip)

It is still unclear what exactly she consumed, but the TikTok video of eating berries was the last thing she posted on her TikTok account, and at the time of this writing, she has not made any public comments or responses.
