Maryland elementary school teacher arrested in fentanyl death

A Montgomery County elementary school teacher has been arrested for her alleged connection to a fentanyl incident that left a man dead earlier this year.

In March, a Washington, DC man died of fentanyl poisoning, authorities' investigation revealed. In the days before his death, it emerged that the Washington man had been in Montgomery County.

The man had been in contact with a person named “Sarah” before his death, officials said. Additional evidence later identified “Sarah” as Sarah Katherine Magdi, a teacher at Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary School in Montgomery County, officials said.

Based on evidence collected by investigators, a search warrant was obtained for Magdi's home in Burtonsville, Maryland. On August 19, officers from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and special agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration said they executed the search and seizure warrants at her home.

Magdi was taken into custody and is currently awaiting a bail hearing at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
