Local doctor allegedly filmed children and adults in swimming schools, hospitals and more

PONTIAC, Michigan (WXYZ) – A metro Detroit doctor is facing multiple charges for allegedly explicitly filming people in various areas of hospitals, homes and other locations.

Officials also believe that the doctor recorded sexual encounters “with numerous women and with hospital patients who were either asleep or unconscious.”

The following charges are brought against 40-year-old Oumair Aejaz:

  • A case of child sexual abuse
  • One count of using a computer to create and/or reproduce child sexual abuse material
  • Two cases of nude photographs of children under 18
  • Two cases of nude photographs of two women over 18 years of age
  • Four cases of using a computer to commit a crime

It is alleged that Aejaz installed hidden cameras in dressing rooms, bathrooms, hospital rooms, toilets, bedrooms, bathrooms and toilets of the apartments to which he had access.

According to Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard, the victims ranged in age from two to adults.

Bouchard said Aejaz was a contract doctor who went to different locations and they executed a number of search warrants.

So far, the police say they have confiscated six computers, four telephones and 15 external storage drives. One of these hard drives alone is said to contain 13,000 videos.

Bouchard said they believe there is more to uncover and that there are more victims, given the length of time he has allegedly been involved in these activities.

Anyone who believes they are a victim or has information is asked to email [email protected].

According to the Oakland County District Attorney's Office, the case involves a mother who was taking her child to a swim school and the suspect filmed her from another locker room.

Aejaz was arrested on August 8 and arraigned on these charges on August 13. Bail was set at $2 million.

“The victimhood is so broad and the perversion so great that we are only just beginning to understand it. Disturbing on so many levels. It's hard to watch the videos of this action. There's a woman lying in a hospital bed, basically unconscious. A 2-year-old thinks they're going swimming,” Bouchard said. “There's no one who can't afford this sick, sick action.”

McDonald said the case was “extremely disturbing” and that most of the activity had taken place in the Rochester and Rochester Hills areas.

She said these charges only relate to the victims she knows of so far, but that many more victims will come forward. They include a 2-year-old child, a 4-year-old child and two women.

According to McDonald, the hospitals where he allegedly worked are cooperating and intend to work with law enforcement to bring him to justice.

“I can't stress enough how many hours of work the Sheriff's Office Computer Crimes Unit puts in, and they've been doing it almost around the clock for a week,” McDonald said.

Bouchard said it could take six months for investigators to go through all the evidence. He said the suspect used various camera options.

According to Bouchard, Aejaz has worked at Ascension Gensys Hospital in Grant Blanc and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. He is an Indian national who came to the U.S. in 2011 for an internship and completed his residency at Sinai Grace. He moved to Alabama and then back to the Detroit metropolitan area.
