SUTTON, MASS. (WHDH) – A dog was killed when a tree fell on a pickup truck in Sutton Tuesday afternoon.

The tree caused severe damage to the white truck on the Central Turnpike near Route 146.

The driver's son said his mother was not injured in the incident, but the family dog ​​was killed.

SKY7-HD spotted the truck with the smashed windshield being taken away from the scene of the accident on a flatbed truck.

At 6 p.m. it was still unclear what caused the tree to fall.

One lane was closed while workers cleared debris from the road.

The road has now been reopened.
