Pro-Palestinian protesters arrested near Israeli consulate in Chicago

Police arrested at least four people Tuesday night after pro-Palestinian protesters attacked officers in Chicago.

Dozens of protesters, some dressed in black, others carrying Palestinian flags, gathered outside a building that houses the Israeli consulate in Chicago, about two miles from the convention center hosting the Democratic National Convention. One of the protesters called on others to “shut down the Democratic National Convention.”

Armed police manned barricades in front of the building.

On Monday, 13 people were arrested, many of them involved in breaching the security fence in a park on the DNC grounds. Chicago Police Commissioner Larry Snelling said about 3,500 people attended Monday's demonstrations, the vast majority of them peaceful. Those arrested face charges including trespassing, resisting and hindering arrest, and aggravated assault against police officers.
