Lane of Scott Boulevard in southwest Columbia closed after accident, reopened after 50 minutes

COLUMBIA, Missouri (KMIZ)

A portion of the northbound lane of Scott Boulevard in southwest Columbia was closed Tuesday evening following an accident.

Boone County Joint Communications issued an alert at 9:06 p.m. that a car crash had occurred at the intersection of Scott Boulevard and West Bethany Drive.

Gale Blomenkamp, ​​assistant chief of the Boone County Fire Protection District, told ABC 17 News in a text message that two vehicles were involved in the crash and one person fled the scene. Blomenkamp said minor injuries were noted but did not say how many people were involved in the crash.

Four Boone County Sheriff's deputies and two Boone County Fire District vehicles responded to the scene. A tow truck began towing one of the vehicles at 9:45 p.m.

The emergency services reopened the intersection at 9:50 p.m.
