Teenager arrested after drug-laced snacks and candy confiscated during traffic stop in Fond du Lac County

FOND DU LAC COUNTY (WLUK) — A teenager is in custody after drug-laced snacks and candy were seized during a traffic stop in Fond du Lac County.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, an officer stopped the teen's vehicle on Monday for an equipment violation. However, the officer “soon suspected there was more to it and requested a tracking dog.”

According to officials, K9 Rip alerted authorities to the presence of drugs in the vehicle, and a search was conducted.

A box that had just been shipped from Oregon to Wisconsin contained over a pound of snacks and other items infused with psilocybin mushrooms or THC.

As you can see from the colorful packaging, these products are designed and packaged to appeal to younger people. Since there is no food testing or regulation of any kind, there is no way to know the true contents of these products, all of which are considered dangerous for children.

The Sheriff's Office reminds parents to educate their children about the dangers of consuming “snacks” and “candy” of unknown origin.

The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man from Madison, was arrested on various drug charges and taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail.
