According to the police department's press release, officers found a person with an active arrest warrant in a parking lot in the 200 block of E 120th Avenue around 8 p.m.

Officers then tried to tell the suspect he was under arrest, but he began to walk away from them. They used a taser on the suspect, but he did not stop him. At that point, police say, he pointed a gun at them, and they fired, hitting the suspect.

The suspect was taken to hospital with serious injuries. No further information was initially available about his condition, identity or the charges against him.

The officers who fired their weapons were placed on leave as per standard protocol. The shooting will be investigated by the 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team before being reviewed by the District Attorney's Office.
