Trump shares fake Taylor Swift ad again –

During the current US election campaign, the media is on high alert for controversies surrounding deepfakes, so it's no surprise that Donald Trump is making a lot of headlines for re-sharing a meme featuring Taylor Swift in a stars-and-stripes hat with the caption, “Taylor wants YOU to vote for Donald Trump.”

“I accept!” Trump wrote as he reposted the post on his own platform, Truth Social, alongside other images that appear to show Swifties supporting his presidential campaign. Swift has not endorsed either candidate in the upcoming election.

Some of the reports are far-fetched: for example, all images are labeled as “AI generated” when they may have only been edited on a computer. The legality of re-sharing memes and whether doing so falsely claims endorsement is also a sensitive debate.

The real danger for Trump would be if Swift's posts could lead her to criticize him publicly and/or support his opponent, Kamala Harris. Speaking of Harris, Harris' latest move to appeal to young voters is Spotify, sponsoring the official playlist “This is Charli XCX,” after the artist recently endorsed Harris.
