Man charged with murder in Crowley shooting that killed teenager

A man is facing murder charges after a teenager was shot and killed in Crowley on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, officers responded to a call about a shooting in the 1200 block of Celeste Street around 1 p.m. Officers rendered aid to the victim, who was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead, police said.

Police said the shooting was an “isolated domestic incident.” The Tarrant County Coroner identified the dead man as 16-year-old Tavion Kyree Swindell.

Police on Sunday named 35-year-old Deeven Letroy Jones as a person of interest in the case. Crowley police said Jones was in Fort Worth on Sunday night and was arrested by Fort Worth police.

Jones was booked into the Tarrant County Jail, where he remained Monday night. He is charged with murder and tampering with evidence and is being held on $260,000 bail.

Jones' lawyer could not be reached Tuesday evening.
