At least three dead in school shooting – DW – 21.08.2024

A Bosnian high school employee shot at least three people in a school building on Wednesday, police said.

Police were at the scene of the shooting in the town of Sanski Most, about 300 kilometers northwest of Sarajevo.

According to regional television N1, the shooter had an argument with the school administration and then tried to take his own life.

“This man killed three school employees with a military weapon, an automatic rifle, and tried to kill himself,” Adnan Beganovic, a spokesman for the local police, reported the incident on national radio.

The victims included the school principal, a secretary and a teacher, he added.

Schools in Bosnia are currently closed due to the summer holidays.
