Police – NBC 6 South Florida

A man who suffered from head bleeding after a hair transplant was arrested along with his wife after they refused to get off a plane in Miami.

Eugenio Hernandez boarded the American Airlines flight to Las Vegas with a bleeding forehead and bandages. He said his doctor had cleared him to fly and he had the appropriate paperwork, but flight attendants told him to leave the plane after seeing his bloody head.

The couple declined.

He described what happened when he was released from prison on Tuesday evening.

“I'm in a lot of pain. I have pain here and pain here in my head,” Hernandez said.

He said he flew from Las Vegas to Miami to undergo hair transplant and liposuction, but when he and his wife were on the flight back home, passengers alerted flight crew that he was bleeding and concerned about his health.

“You have to go out because someone doesn't like what you have on your head,” Hernandez said he was told.

Hernandez provided NBC6 with a letter from his doctor stating that he was cleared to fly and could return to work without restrictions.

The flight attendant told him she didn't care, he said.

The situation escalated.

“She told me to either get out or call the police. I said call the police because this is unfair. I paid for my flight. I don't have anything illegal in my bag. Everything is fine,” Hernandez said.

His wife Yusleidys Loyola, who has also undergone plastic surgery, went live on TikTok and thousands watched.

“You know I had a breast lift and liposuction on my arms… I can't even walk,” Loyola says to the camera in Spanish. “Call 911… We are being discriminated against and abused.”

The police were called and tried to persuade the couple to leave the plane.

“If you don't get out, they're going to grab you and drag you out,” an officer tells Hernandez, standing in the aisle of the plane while he remains seated.

“If they take me out, they will hurt me,” he replies.

But it only gets worse.

The video shows two police officers lifting Hernandez up and putting his arms behind his back. He screams.

Then Loyola starts screaming.

“Look, he’s freshly operated on, he’s just had an operation!”

The phone shakes.

“Don't put my phone down!” she yells at the first officer. “He just had surgery and they're beating him!”

Then Loyola is led away, screaming and crying: “My breasts!”

According to police, the couple was arrested because they refused to comply with the request despite repeated warnings.

“All of this could have been avoided if they had simply followed the officers' instructions or requests to exit the aircraft,” said Argemis Colomé, spokesman for the Miami-Dade County police.

American Airlines said in a statement: “During boarding of American Airlines flight 1858 on August 19, flying from Miami (MIA) to Las Vegas (LAS), two passengers behaved disruptively and disobeyed crew instructions. Police responded and removed both passengers from the aircraft. We thank our crew members for their professionalism and apologize to our passengers for the inconvenience.”

The couple were charged with trespassing and resisting state authority.

Loyola is expected to be released Wednesday morning.
