In early June 2022, following the unprecedented leak of a Supreme Court draft Dobbs Nicholas Roske, a California man in his mid-20s, was arrested near Judge Brett Kavanaugh's home in Maryland. Roske, who was reportedly angry about the court's decision, Roe v. Wadewas found with a gun, a knife, zip ties and burglary tools and reportedly told police he wanted to kill Kavanaugh, one of the court's conservative justices. Later that month, when the court's official decision was released, it was revealed that Kavanaugh had joined the 6-3 majority opinion declaring there was no longer a constitutional right to abortion.

Roske was charged with attempted murder of a Supreme Court justice. More than two years later, a trial date has finally been set. The Hill has more details:

After Roske negotiated a guilty plea for more than a year and a half, prosecutors announced last month that they could not reach an agreement and asked for the case to move forward.

U.S. District Judge Peter Messitte called the parties to a scheduling conference on Tuesday and set the trial date for June 9.

The rescheduled timeline means Roske's trial will take place three years after the incident. Prosecutors said they expect the trial to last about a week.

Roske is represented by public defenders, one of whom told reporters he “[does] “I don’t expect a lengthy application process in this case.” Stay tuned for June 2025, when Roske’s case goes to court.
