A 63-year-old man ended up in prison for an incident of road rage. This is how it happened

A 63-year-old man faces multiple charges after pointing a gun at two people in another car during a driving aggression incident in Port St. Lucie on Tuesday, police said.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of Southwest Briarwood Drive.

According to police, the suspect, Paul Slane, drove his black Mercedes aggressively around the victim's truck while pointing a gun at two victims and then stopped in the road in front of them.

Investigators said Slane then got out of his vehicle with the gun in his hand, approached the driver and punched him through the open window. Police said Slane also punched a female passenger while demanding that she give him her cellphone because she was recording the incident.

Authorities said Slane then fled the scene, but was tracked down a short time later by St. Lucie County officials. Police said a handgun used in the incident was recovered.

Slane is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of attempted armed robbery and two counts of simple assault.

He is being held without bail in the St. Lucie County Jail.
