Coronation Street fans are becoming increasingly concerned about Alina Pop, who recently returned to the famous cobbles with her young son Dorin. Alina, played by Ruxandra Porojnicu, made a surprise return to Weatherfield after having an unexpected encounter with her former rival Fiz (Jennie Mcalpine) in a car park.

It soon became apparent that her husband Tyrone (Alan Halsall) might be the father of Alina’s child.

Viewers will remember that Tyrone and Alina were in a romantic relationship a few years ago and Alina insisted she was not pregnant before she left.

In her final scene, she was seen in the airport departure lounge, tenderly holding her growing baby bump. Three years later, Tyrone wants to play an active role in her son's life, but Alina has plans to return to Romania.

Their return was solely to provide evidence in court as the leader of a human trafficking gang faces trial, the Manchester Evening News reported.

As the proceedings continue, Alina is expected to make a statement detailing her experiences as a victim of modern slavery.

What is worrying, however, is that she is now receiving threatening phone calls, which suggests that the traffickers are trying to intimidate her before her next court date. But is she in danger?

Some Corrie fans believe that Alina could be at risk of a fatal accident, which would result in Dorin coming into the care of Tyrone and Fiz and the little one moving permanently to Weatherfield.

Fans have expressed their theories and concerns about Alina's fate on social media.

One concerned fan posted: “They're going to kill Alina for sure and let Dorin grow up in that dump, aren't they #corrie.” (sic)

Another pleaded: “I'm begging the writers of #corrie to keep Alina alive! The last thing we need is another member of the dead young mums club.”

A third viewer speculated: “I guess this gang will scare Alina away or she'll end up in hospital and so Dorin will remain in Tyrone's care for the foreseeable future #Corrie #CoronationStreet @itvcorrie.”

Speculation continued, with one fan asking: “Will Fiz somehow end up raising Alina's child? #Corrie,” while another agreed with a popular theory: “I agree with the theory that Tyrone will have the baby if Alina is killed, #Corrie.”
