Arrest for driving under the influence and drug seizure in Chadron – KCSR / KBPY

A news release from the Chadron Police Department states that on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at approximately 11:12 p.m., Police Dog Orsborn observed a vehicle near the corner of Third and Maple Streets with a defective headlight. Officer Orsborn conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to be impaired.

Officer Orsborn conducted a DUI investigation and the driver was subsequently arrested for
Driving under the influence of alcohol. During her arrest, the driver was searched and a small amount of suspected methamphetamine was found on her.

Officer Orsborn sent his K9 partner Sukey to sniff the vehicle in the open air. Sukey alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. During the traffic stop, approximately 1.2 grams of suspected cocaine was seized in addition to the suspected methamphetamine found on the driver. Sergeant Young conducted an evaluation of the driver after her arrest to check her for drugs.

The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Jessica Cash, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, a violation of NRS 60-6, 196, a Class W misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance, a violation of NRS 28-416, a Class IV felony. Cash is being held in the Dawes County Jail and bail has been set at 10% of $10,000.
