California man arrested for drug trafficking

MINERAL COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) – A Nevada City, California man was arrested after a traffic stop in Mineral County and charged with drug trafficking and other offenses.

On Wednesday around 9:00 a.m., officers with the Mineral County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a black Audi sedan on US95 in the county.

During the stop, officers became suspicious about the driver's character and behavior. When the car was searched by sniffer dogs, one pound of psychoactive mushrooms, about 11.5 pounds of hashish and eight pounds of marijuana were found in two travel bags.

According to police, the drugs had a street value of around $60,000.

Samuel Chase was subsequently arrested and taken to the Mineral County Detention Center. The charges were:

1. Marijuana trade

2. Trafficking in Schedule 1 controlled substances

3. Possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
