Tragic accident at Stellantis plant in Toledo claims the life of an employee

Today, a tragic accident occurred at the Stellantis Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio, resulting in the death of an employee. The incident occurred on the north side of the plant, where the Jeep® Wrangler (JL) is produced. According to sources, the employee was struck by a vehicle, and local authorities responded immediately.

Toledo Police were called to the scene at approximately 1:55 p.m. and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing. Lt. Paul Davis of the Toledo Police Department confirmed that officers responded quickly and investigators from the Lucas County Coroner's Office were dispatched to the facility. As of now, the identity of the deceased employee has not been released and details of the incident have not been released.

The Stellantis Toledo assembly complex, which also produces the Jeep® Gladiator (JT), employs 4,679 workers, including 4,447 hourly workers and 232 salaried employees working two shifts. The loss has sent shockwaves through the plant and the local community.

In an official statement, Stellantis confirmed the incident and said: “We are aware of an incident at the Toledo Assembly Complex. As this incident is currently under investigation, we are unable to provide any further details at this time.”

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has also been notified of the death and has sent compliance officers to the plant to conduct an investigation. OSHA typically takes several months to complete its investigations into workplace fatalities, so it may take some time to fully determine the exact cause and circumstances of this incident.
