Minor injuries reported in school bus accident in Salem

SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) – “Some” students reported minor injuries in an accident involving a school bus in Salem on Wednesday, Salem police said.

According to police, the bus transporting Salem High School students was involved in an accident after school ended. The injured students were treated at the scene by Salem Fire and EMS. The school nurse was also called to check on the remaining students.

According to police, the parents of all students who rode on this bus were notified and the passengers were transferred to another bus and taken home.

Salem Police report they were called to the accident at the intersection of South College Avenue and 8th Street just after 4 p.m. The accident is currently under investigation.

Salem Police urge drivers to be “extra alert and attentive this time of year as our children return to school throughout the Roanoke Valley.”
