Chicago police release photos of suspects wanted in hammer attack and robbery at CTA Western Blue Line station

CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police on Wednesday released photos of two suspects wanted in connection with a hammer attack and robbery on a CTA Blue Line train platform on the Near West Side Tuesday afternoon.

A man was attacked by a suspect with a hammer shortly before 4 p.m. at Western Station, Chicago police said.

The 31-year-old victim was standing on the platform when a suspect, identified only as a woman, forcibly took his phone, police said. When the man tried to get his phone back, he was attacked multiple times with a hammer by another suspect, identified only as a man.

The victim suffered numerous cuts to the head and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

Chicago police released the following photos of the suspects.

No one is in custody and Area Four detectives are investigating.

The police did not initially provide any further information.
