This annoying airport trend is going viral and could get you in trouble

Airport security is one of the most stressful aspects of a flight.

And for some passengers it could take even longer – due to a new trend.

The aesthetics of the airport tray, Travelers “style” the contents of their tray as they go through security.

They then take photos of the trays, post them online and arrange them in an artistic way.

According to GQ, there are over 16 million posts with the keyword “airport tray aesthetics.”

Most of the pictures show what you would expect – passports, headphones, shoes, etc.

However, some go a step further and have “themed” trays, such as book-themed airport trays, with one in purple and yellow featuring the famous book It Ends With Us, which was recently turned into a film with Blake Lively.

While this may seem harmless, this trend could lead to significantly longer queues at the airport.

Having passengers stop to take photos of their trays means more people are unable to pick up their own tray from the conveyor belt.

In the worst case scenario, you may have to run to your gate or even miss your flight if this trend continues.

It has already received backlash from other Travelers on social media.

One person said, “I'm sorry, but no one is really that aesthetic.”

Primark offers the ultimate holiday buy that saves you space and time at the airport and looks good too, for £2.

Another agreed: “I'm not the friendliest person at the airport. If I catch you taking Pinterest photos in the TSA line, I'll put my trash can in front of yours.”

A third said, “What airport do you go to that gives you the opportunity to artfully organize your luggage and take aesthetic pictures? If I tried that at any airport in the tri-state area, the TSA would yell at me.”

This is because it also poses a security risk to people taking photos of their tablets.

Due to the risk involved, taking photographs is prohibited during security checks at most airports.

Doug Drury is Head of the Department of Aviation at CQUniversity in Australiapreviously told Stuff NZ: “Such restrictions are a result of changes to airport security following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.”

“Security teams frequently change their processes to prevent the emergence of recognizable patterns that could lead to a security breach.”

One woman gave us tips on how to follow this trend without upsetting other travelers or getting in trouble with airport security.

TikToker Chelsea Henriquez shared on social media: “Step 1: Go through TSA.

“Step 2: Pack your bags and leave – important: GET OUT OF THE WAY.

“Step 3: Set up your little tray the way you want.”

However, in the comment everyone said the same thing.

One explained, “I'm the person you see running from TSA to the gate.”

Airplane etiquette

If you are planning a trip soon, you must follow these unwritten rules of airplane etiquette…

RECLINING SEAT: Podcast host and etiquette expert Nick Leighton explained that you should not recline your seat if the passenger behind you is working on their laptop.

He said: “Nobody likes to have their laptop broken in half.”

Before you move your seat back, it is best to check what the passenger behind you is doing.

If your child is using a laptop, ask before moving your seat back.

FEET: A flight attendant told The Sun: “Your boarding pass will have a number and a letter on it. This is the reserved seat you paid for.”

“Your feet, which are connected to your body, should do their best to stay in that space and away from everyone else.

“If you insist on stretching, please make sure your feet are covered.”

CHAT-T: TV travel expert Samantha Brown explained that conversations with strangers are not welcome and said that others should not expect conversation either.

She added: “I'm not a chatterbox. The time on the plane belongs to me.”

This is not the only reason why you should avoid the airport tray trend.

According to a study, most viruses are found at airport security checkpoints.
