Goody Two Shoes – GTPlanet

There is now a rare multiple choice event in Gran Turismo 7 The online time trial mode offers players various ways to achieve the fastest time possible.

For this event, which takes place over the next two weeks, you will return to Suzuka again, but you can choose any car from the Gr.2 category with Racing Medium tires.

That's a pretty wide field these days, originally populated by just six GT500 class cars: one each from Honda, Lexus and Nissan from the 2008 and 2016 Super GT seasons. Today, the Gr.2 category includes a Class 1 car from the DTM and a trio of classic Le Mans racers – none of which ultimately failed to win the famous endurance race.

However, it's surprisingly difficult to get the balance right in this class and the twisty Suzuka Circuit seems to suit the 2016 Super GT machines, so if you're looking to set a top time, resist the temptation to go for the Toyota GT-One!

It's likely to be a pretty busy event in terms of player registrations, and times are already reaching 1:47.8 – you currently need a smooth 1:51 to get into the gold bracket. Chances are that won't stay that way, though, so aim for a 1:50.5 or better to have some security.

There's still a week to go until the Clio V6 event at Mount Panorama, which started last week. So far times haven't dropped quite as far or as fast as we first feared, so right now you just need to get into the top 2:33s to take gold. The current world record of 2:29.4 may be betterable, so aim for a mid-time of 2:33 to be a little safer.

To access the online time trials, you'll need to unlock Sport mode by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in GT Cafe's single-player hub. Since it's just you against the clock and there's no direct, head-to-head multiplayer event, PlayStation Plus isn't required.

Normally, after the event is over, you need to get within 3% of the world's fastest time to secure “Gold” status and a bonus prize of 2 million credits. There are smaller prizes of one million if you get within 5% and 250,000 crore for Bronze with a 10% discount.

Events are updated every Thursday, with each individual challenge typically remaining available for two weeks, with the oldest of the two events being replaced each week. You can look forward to the next new Time Trial arriving on Thursday, August 29th at 07:00 UTC.
