Man arrested with bleeding head after being unable to leave plane

A man and his companion were removed from an American Airlines flight and arrested this week after he apparently refused to clean his bloody head.

The staff on board the American Airlines flight from Miami to Las Vegas were concerned when they noticed that the man, named as Eugenio Ernesto Hernandez-Garnier was bleeding from his forehead.

According to a screenshot of an arrest report seen by Business Insider, flight crew told him to wipe up the blood and replace the bandages with fresh ones to prevent contamination from bodily fluids. The 27-year-old from Las Vegas said he did not have any clean bandages with him.

Crew members then insisted that Hernandez-Garnier leave the plane, but he and his companion, 32-year-old Yusleydis Blanca Loyola, refused to get off.

An American Airlines spokesperson told Business Insider: “During boarding of American Airlines flight 1858 on August 19, flying from Miami (MIA) to Las Vegas (LAS), two passengers engaged in disruptive behavior and disobeyed crew instructions. Police responded and removed both passengers from the aircraft.”

According to the arrest report, Loyola told the crew members that “if they couldn't fly, no one else could.”

The police were called to the plane and threatened that they would be arrested if they did not come. Both refused again.

Blanca Loyola began livestreaming the incident on TikTok, explaining that Hernandez-Garnier had just undergone surgery. A mugshot of Hernandez-Garnier released by Miami-Dade police shows his bloody head, which Sky News says is the result of a hair transplant.

The two are each charged with two counts of trespassing and resisting arrest without the use of violence, according to Miami-Dade County court records posted online.

As a result of the incident, the American Airlines flight was significantly delayed. According to data from Flightradar24, the plane was scheduled to depart at around 9 p.m. local time on August 19, but did not take off until around 6:45 a.m. on August 20.
