On August 18, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., several citizens called 911 to report hearing gunshots at a residence in the 1300 block of Willow Way. Valdosta Police officers arrived at the residence and found two people who had been shot.

Officers immediately attempted to assist the victims until South Georgia Medical Center EMS and Valdosta Police Department firefighters arrived.

While officers attempted to assist a 15-year-old boy with gunshot wounds to his legs and a 43-year-old boy with multiple gunshot wounds, other officers heard additional gunshots in the area and, with assistance from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office, attempted to locate the source of those gunshots.

Emergency medical services took both victims to South Georgia Medical Center. The 15-year-old was treated and released, while the 43-year-old is still being treated but is in stable condition.

Detectives and forensic officers began their investigation. At this point, detectives discovered that a large crowd of adults, teenagers and small children had gathered in the house. An altercation broke out in the house during which firearms were drawn, which led to shots being fired.

Detectives are continuing to process evidence and follow up on any leads from possible witnesses.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released.
