2 ATV riders seriously injured in accident with semi-trailer near Goodyear

GOODYEAR, AZ (AZFamily) — Two people are in the hospital after the off-road vehicle they were riding in collided with a tractor-trailer south of Goodyear late Wednesday night.

Officers with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash around 11 p.m. near MC-85 and Bullard Avenue.

Officers on scene determined the accident involved an ATV that struck the cab of a semi-truck. According to MCSO, two adults were on the ATV and were taken to the hospital. One has “serious injuries,” the other has injuries that are considered life-threatening.

None of the ATV riders were wearing helmets, MCSO said.

The driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.

MCSO officials are investigating what led up to this accident. No further information has been released.

MC-85 is closed between Litchfield Road and Bullard Avenue and the investigation is ongoing.
