Man allegedly tried to blow up his house in Bourbon County

PARIS, Kentucky (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A man accused of attempting to blow up his home after allegedly attacking one of his roommates is scheduled to appear in court next week in Bourbon County.

The incident occurred last week at a house on Thomas Avenue, near Gano and Hanson Streets, off Georgetown Road in Paris, according to police. The suspect, 28-year-old Roque Oleivera, allegedly hit one of his roommates on the head with a piece of a wooden window frame during an argument while he was allegedly drunk.

According to investigators, Oleivera then brought a propane tank from an outdoor grill into the house and set a mattress on fire using a lighter and a can of Axe body spray. Police said Oleivera also threatened to kill all of his roommates and stated he was going to “blow up the house.”

Oleivera was arrested in the backyard of the house. He is accused of attempted murder, assault and arson. He must appear in court on Wednesday, August 28.
