Fatal accident on the Southern State Parkway leads to closure of eastbound lanes

ISLE OF GOD, NY – A fatal crash on the Southern State Parkway has closed eastbound lanes on Long Island.

The four-car crash occurred Thursday morning near Exit 42 in Islip.

According to the New York State Police, one of the drivers involved was driving in the wrong direction.

Authorities confirmed one person's death but did not immediately identify the victim.

The crash remains under investigation.
