Bail set for Glendale teenager charged with murder of his father; no contact with victim's family

FORREST COUNTY, Mississippi (WDAM) – A Forrest County teenager made his first court appearance Thursday morning after allegedly murdering his father.

Forrest County Juvenile Judge Carol Russell set bail for 14-year-old Taurence Everett at $250,000 on a charge of first-degree murder.

Upon his release, Taurence Everett will also be required to wear an ankle monitor and have no contact with the victim's family. Russell did not provide any further details during the public hearing about what this latest order means for the family they share.

Taurence Everett is accused of shooting his father, 49-year-old Thomas Everett, on Tuesday, August 20.

Taurence Everett is being tried as an adult, but Judge Russell of Juvenile Court presided over the case Thursday because a possible conflict of interest caused the Forrest County Justice Court judges to recuse themselves from the case.
