Suspect in Quincy shooting incident arrested with the help of a police dog

A suspect in a shooting incident in Quincy was arrested with the assistance of a Quincy Police Department detection dog and his canine partner.

On Wednesday, August 21, at approximately 8:19 p.m., Quincy Police officers were called to the 4200 block of Maine Street for a report of a man searching for a weapon.

It was reported that an individual had pointed a firearm at another individual and discharged the weapon in the area. Before officers arrived on the scene, it was reported that the individual had fled.

A Quincy Police Department sniffer dog and his partner tracked the suspect and found a backpack containing a firearm that had been reported stolen a short distance from the crime scene.

The suspect, Chase M. Longcor, was later located in the area and taken into custody without incident.

He was booked into the Adams County Jail on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, armed violence, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon by a felon, and aggravated assault with a firearm.
