1 person dead after police-involved shooting at Franklin High School; classes canceled

One person was killed in a police-involved shooting at Franklin High School on Thursday morning.

All classes for Thursday have been cancelled.

Our team on campus reports that there are multiple El Paso Police units as well as EPISD police officers at the school.

A body was covered with a white sheet in front of the Franklin Magnet Center.

The officer involved in the shooting was an El Paso ISD police officer.

El Paso ISD released the following statement:

El Paso Independent School District Police were involved in a shooting at Franklin High School while investigating an early morning incident. No students were involved in this incident and there is no threat to the community, students, or staff. One person died as a result of this incident. Outside agencies are assisting El Paso ISD with the investigation. Additional information will be provided as more information becomes available.

The El Paso Police Department is assisting EPISD police in the investigation.
