Jermaine Williams charged with first-degree murder of his wife | WNDB

Jermaine Williams Sr. of Bunnell was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing attack on his wife earlier this month. Williams, 52, is accused of stabbing his wife to death in the street outside their home near the intersection of South Pine Street and MLK Avenue.

Williams has been in custody at the county jail since August 2, where he is expected to remain until the murder charge is resolved. This is his third arrest at the county jail, after being arrested on domestic violence and assault charges and witness tampering charges in 2022 and false imprisonment charges next month.

“In the Seventh Judicial District, one in five murders we prosecute is a family member,” said prosecutor RJ Larizza about Williams' case. “As a community, we must continue to create and provide resources to support, assist and protect victims of domestic violence. Otherwise, the death and despair consequences of domestic violence will go unaddressed.” Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Dunton will lead the prosecution against Williams, building on the investigative work of the Bunnell Police Department and the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Although Williams' case has plenty of unexpected twists and turns, reports from the crime scene paint a gruesome picture with a grim outlook for the defendant's future. Police claim they have eyewitnesses who saw Williams kill his wife, the late Yolanda Williams. Jermaine's own father allegedly pointed a gun at his son to stop the stabbing, shortly after witnesses heard him say “I’m sick of this shit”.

The dispute allegedly arose from an argument over the couple's living situation. Because they had previously had serious domestic problems, they had made an agreement whereby Williams would sleep in his truck outside the door, according to BPD reports. When Yolanda's vehicle broke down one morning as she was leaving for work, an argument over the agreement apparently escalated, leading to Jermaine allegedly grabbing a kitchen knife and stabbing her multiple times in the street. She later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.
