Fatal traffic accident Thursday morning near Castroville – KION546

CASTROVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) – CHP Monterey confirmed Thursday morning that a fatal traffic accident occurred on Nashua Road near Monte Road.

According to the CHP, a 23-year-old Gilroy woman was crossing the street when she was struck by a Chevy Suburban traveling westbound on Nashau Road toward Monte Road. There were two people in the vehicle and, according to the CHP, drunk driving is not a factor.

According to the CHP, the driver of the Chevy cooperated with authorities and pulled over immediately after the accident.

When police arrived on scene, the pedestrian was pronounced dead, according to the CHP.
