Biker clubhouse catches fire near Sunday's mass shooting in East Baltimore

BALTIMORE – A fire broke out Wednesday evening in an East Baltimore building near the site of a mass shooting over the weekend.

The building that caught fire in the 1300 block of N. Spring Street is often used as a clubhouse by a local motorcycle group.

Last Sunday, the motorcycle club held a barbecue in a nearby park next to Dr. Bernard Harris Elementary School.

Residents of the Oliver neighborhood claim that bikers blocked off certain parts of the street with traffic cones for their party.

Neighbors told us this led to a parking dispute that ended in gunfire.

One man was killed and seven others injured. No arrests have been made so far.

Although police did not describe Wednesday's clubhouse fire as an act of retaliation for arson, they confirmed that the case was under investigation.

“Both investigations are ongoing,” a Baltimore Police spokesperson said. “Each incident is being investigated separately. However, it is standard practice in all investigations, particularly those in close proximity, to determine whether they are related to other crimes and whether retaliation is possible.”
