Trump campaign deletes “Freedom” clip after Beyoncé bans use of song

Donald Trump's campaign team has withdrawn a video featuring a song by Beyoncé after the singer's record label and publishers banned its use.

MAGA campaign spokesman Steven Cheung posted a clip Tuesday of the former president stepping off a plane after arriving in Michigan. The video featured Beyoncé's song “Freedom,” which was used by Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign with permission from Queen B. “Touchdown in Michigan!! @realDonaldTrump,” Cheung wrote.

Rolling Stone reported that Beyoncé threatened Trump with a cease-and-desist over the unauthorized use. A source told the newspaper that the former president did not seek permission to use the song, which appears on her 2016 album “Lemonade.”

Beyoncé, who is rumored to perform at the DNC on Thursday, has not commented on the digital skirmish with Trump, according to The Guardian. She is the latest in a long line of musicians who have openly opposed the ex-president's use of their songs at various rallies and events. Others include Céline Dion, Phil Collins, Johnny Marr, the estates of Tom Petty and Sinead O'Connor, and more.
