Assistant Professor Tabiram Yirang dies in tragic accident

PASIGHAT, 22 August: Assistant Professor Tabiram Yirang of Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC) died in a tragic accident around 4:30 am on Thursday while returning to campus from his home.

Yirang was an assistant professor in the Department of Geography. He is survived by his wife Marbom Yirang, a son and two daughters.

The faculty and staff members of the college rushed to the hospital where the autopsy and other official formalities were carried out.

Deeply mourning Yirang's death, the College Principal Dr. Tasi Taloh, along with faculty and staff members paid their last respects to the deceased at her residence in the lower campus of the College.

Taloh said: “We regret the tragic loss and our thoughts are with Yirang's grieving family and friends. May his soul rest in peace and may the family find strength in this difficult time,” DIPRO reports.

The Yirang Welfare Society (YWS) has expressed its deep grief over the untimely demise of Tabiram Yirang, a dedicated Assistant Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru (JN) College, Pasighat, who died in a fatal road accident.

Born on 20 May 1971 to Lt. Mutgiang Yirang of Rayang village in East Siang, Lt. Yirang dedicated his life to education and public service. Before joining Tirap Government College, Deomali as Assistant Professor of Geography, he served as Junior Secretary at JN College, Pasighat and Senior Secretary to the Director of School Education, Naharlagun. He also served as a lecturer at Government College, Bomdila.

“Lt. Yirang was an important part of YWS and held various roles including Secretary General, Literature Secretary and Resource Mobilizer. His contributions to the society were immense and his absence will be deeply painful. His untimely demise is a tremendous loss to our society and the academic community,” said Dr. Allok Yirang, President of YWS.

“Lt. Yirang leaves behind his mother, wife, three children and three brothers. His untimely death has left a void in the lives of his family, friends and the academic community,” he added.

The Yirang Welfare Society extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prays for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace. His contributions to education and society will forever be remembered and cherished, the society said.
