Taylorsville man arrested again for drug offenses

Jeffrey Lynn Mays Jr., 45, of Taylorsville, was arrested Wednesday (August 21) by Alexander County Sheriff's officers on charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mays is being held without bail at the Alexander County Detention Center.

Mays has numerous prior charges, including felony common law robbery, aiding and abetting common law robbery, probation violations, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, and possession of methamphetamine, as well as misdemeanors such as possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and driving without a license.

Alexander County Superior Court dates were scheduled for Sept. 16 and Oct. 7, with an appearance in District Court set for Oct. 1. In Surry County, Mays awaits trial on charges of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm and criminal damage to property. He is scheduled to appear in a Surry County courtroom on Sept. 30.
