Chase with stolen car ends in fatal accident in Brighton

BRIGHTON, NY — A man is dead after teenagers driving a stolen KIA crashed into his car during a police chase in Brighton Thursday afternoon.

According to police, it all started when another stolen car crashed on Maria Street around 3:15 p.m. The suspect got out of the car and fled from police. He later jumped into another stolen KIA and drove off – nearly hitting an RPD officer.

Officials said shots were fired on Maria Street, but no one was hit.

Rochester Police began pursuing the stolen KIA. The vehicle eventually collided with another, uninvolved car that was attempting to turn at the intersection of East Avenue and Linden Avenue. The man in that car died at the scene.

In the stolen vehicle were three juveniles between the ages of 13 and 18 who were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with various injuries.
