Mother and sister arrested in Leesburg store clerk murder case; accused of hiding suspect

LEESBURG, Florida. – Leesburg police have arrested two women accused of hiding the suspect who allegedly killed a clerk during a supermarket robbery in May.

Alex Lopez, 25, was arrested near Kissimmee less than a month later. He is accused of shooting Raied “Ray” Shihadeh, 51, a convenience store clerk on Picciola Road in Leesburg.

On Thursday, police arrested Lopez's mother, Patricia Kinchens, and his sister, Breanna Lopez, on charges of aiding and abetting premeditated murder, armed robbery with a firearm, possession of a firearm/ammunition by a convicted felon and display/use of a weapon during a crime.

The agency said Kinchens and Lopez helped hide Lopez from law enforcement, preventing his arrest.
