Peacock announces new crime thriller “MIA” from Ozark co-creator

Ozarks the upcoming crime drama from co-creator Bill Dubuque MIAwhich has just been ordered to series at Peacock, tells the origin story of crime queen Etta Tiger Jonze. Jonze grows up in South Florida in the family drug trade. It's not a typical childhood, but it's the only one she's ever known, and it molded her into an engine of evil with a single goal.

Drug trafficking is a dangerous business and soon her family becomes a target. Jonze witnesses the murder of everyone she loves and embarks on a single-minded mission to avenge them. Viewers accompany Jonze on her journey from a helpless orphan to the most powerful crime boss in South Florida, surrounded by a new adopted family.

MIA comes from the mind of Dubuque, who serves as both writer and executive producer. Karen Campbell (Outlander, Dexter) will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Stefano Sollima will direct and executive produce; he previously created and directed ZeroZeroZero and as showrunner and director of the successful Italian series Gomorrahrecognized by critics as one of the best international series of recent years.

Ozarks enjoyed widespread acclaim among critics and audiences around the world, achieving an average score of 82% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer at the time of writing. Ozarks was nominated for 45 Emmy Awards, including four wins, as well as honors from the Golden Globes, WGA, SAG and DGA Awards, to name a few. Suffice it to say, Dubuque has the makings of rock-solid crime dramas.

MRC, the manufacturing company MIAalso produced Peacock's successful comedy series Tedcreated by Seth McFarlane, and Peacock's Mystery of the Week series Poker faceDirected by Rian Johnson, starring Natasha Lyonne and a host of guest stars, both series return to Peacock for a second season.

Further details on MIAincluding who will play the main roles, when the show will premiere and how the story will continue remains to be seen. One thing is clear: Dubuque and company have assembled an elite team of narrative ne'er-do-wells, a sinister storytelling supergroup capable of pulling tricks from experience Outlander, Dexter, ZeroZeroZero, Gomorrah, Ozarks, Poker faceand more. MIA is highly anticipated even before the first episode airs on television, based solely on the promise of a spectacular story. Fortunately, Dubuque, Campbell and Sollima have their track record to back up.
