Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey was one of the first guests to speak at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Thursday.

In his speech at the Democratic Party Convention, Senator Casey stressed that prices have risen due to inflation, such as the $15 increase in diaper prices.

The Democratic National Committee convention will take place in Chicago from Monday, August 19 to Thursday, August 22. Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to officially accept the party's nomination for the 2024 election on Thursday.

Who is Bob Casey Jr.?

• Who is he: Since his father was involved in politics, it was no surprise that Senator Casey also ran for office. In 1996, Casey officially entered politics after being elected Pennsylvania's Auditor General. After running for other political offices, including governor and state treasurer, Casey became a senator in 2007, Britannica reports.

• What role he plays: His website states that Senator Casey is a strong supporter of “policies that raise middle-class wages and improve early childhood education and health care opportunities for children.”

• Key quote: “This is 'greedflation,'” he said. “I've been fighting against it for a long time, and so has Kamala Harris.”

When and where will the DNC take place

The Democratic National Convention will take place from August 19 to 22 in Chicago, Illinois.

The United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks, will be the main venue for the DNC.

Chicago has hosted the Democratic National Convention eleven times, most recently in 1996, when President Bill Clinton was nominated for a second term at the United Center.

The convention will be broadcast live on the organization's website from the United Center in Chicago on Monday from 6:15 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern Time (5:15 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central Time) and on the other days from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern Time (6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central Time).
