Homeless man arrested for bomb threat in Fargo

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – Fargo police arrested a homeless man for allegedly making a bomb threat in the area of ​​the New Life Center (1900 block of 3rd Ave. N.) Sunday morning.

According to the police report, a caller reported that a man outside the building was yelling that he had a bomb and apparently had something in his pocket. The man was also reportedly holding a lighter and threatening to set off an explosion.

Officers said 40-year-old Salih Kasim attempted to flee from officers despite being asked to stop, but was quickly arrested after a foot chase.

After his arrest, a search of the facility revealed no suspicious items or weapons, according to police. Officers also worked with staff to search the facility to ensure that no dangerous items were present.

Interviews with staff and witnesses revealed that Kasim had been making threatening comments throughout the night and into the morning, prompting staff to demand his removal. FPD was informed that Kasim had allegedly shown another guest an explosive device that he claimed was a bomb.

Kasim was arrested for resisting a police officer and disorderly conduct. In Cass County alone, court records show that Kasim has received 37 different charges since 2005.
