Georgia man accused of killing rapper Trouble after catching him with his ex turns himself in

A man accused of shooting Atlanta rapper Trouble in a fit of jealousy has turned himself in to authorities.

Jamichael Jones was arrested without incident Tuesday and taken into custody by the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office in the killing of the 34-year-old musician, whose real name was Michael Orr. He was shot to death Sunday morning at the Lake St. James Apartments in Conyers, police said.

Officers had responded to a 911 call when they discovered Jones' ex-girlfriend, who had visible injuries to her face “indicating she had been beaten.” She told authorities she was sleeping in her bed with Trouble when she was awakened by her ex “punching her in the face,” according to an arrest warrant obtained by 11Alive.

From there, the violence only escalated, she said, and almost immediately a fight broke out between Jones and Trouble. She said she tried to help, but there wasn't much she could do as her ex-boyfriend “pulled out a gun, shot Mr. Orr (Trouble) and left the scene.”

According to the arrest warrant, the rapper was hit in the chest by “Bussin.” He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities said they have video of Jones entering and exiting the apartment. In total, the altercation lasted just seven minutes.

The suspect's girlfriend told investigators they had been together for about three years but had broken up about a week before the shooting. She added that Jones hit her during an argument because he “didn't have a job and wasn't helping her pay the bills,” the warrant states.

In that case, Jones' ex said she called 911 but did not report the incident to police because Jones fled the scene.

“Jones has agreed to turn himself in and has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, burglary and assault,” the RCSO said in a press release.

He was denied bail at an initial court hearing on Tuesday.
