Suspect arrested after shooting at Brown's Plants and Seeds

LENOIR COUNTY, NC (WITN) – The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office said after a 40-minute standoff, 41-year-old Kevin Morris, who was wanted in connection with the shooting of a store employee at Brown's Plants and Seeds, was arrested.

Morris is charged with attempted murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.

The shooting occurred on August 7 on Highway 258 North.

On Thursday at 8:10 p.m., the LCSO's Special Response Team (SRT) surrounded a residence at 4074 Hwy 258 South where Morris was located. After the standoff between Morris and the SRT, he was taken into custody by the unit at 9 p.m.

“The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division has spent literally hundreds of hours on this case and I am sincerely grateful for their hard work,” said Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers. “We would also like to thank the Wake County Sheriff's Office and Wake County Sheriff Willie Rowe for their assistance.”
