The Culver family of Menifee fell victim to an unimaginable tragedy on Sunday, July 14, when their minivan was struck by a northbound train outside of Cookeville, Wyoming, near the Utah border, killing Aulai, the mother, and 12-year-old daughter Lily. The family of four was on their way to Yellowstone National Park for vacation when they attempted to bypass a temporarily closed road by traveling on a railroad track. The vehicle became stuck on the tracks, resulting in the fatal accident. Captain Brian Andrews of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office reported that the accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. “During this family's detour, their vehicle was struck by a northbound train as they attempted to cross from the west side of the tracks to the east side,” Andrews said.
