Usher finally starts his Past Present Future Tour after an injury-related break

R&B icon Usher finally kicked off his Past Present Future tour with two sold-out shows at Capital One Arena in Washington DC on August 20 and 21.

The tour kicked off after a brief delay due to a neck injury Usher sustained during rehearsals, which led to the postponement of the first three shows in Atlanta, originally scheduled for mid-August.

The multi-award-winning artist played a two-hour set on both nights, mixing hits from his 30-year career with tracks from his latest album, Return homeThe setlist included “Yeah!”, “Confessions,” “U Remind Me,” and “U Don't Have to Call,” as well as new songs “Good Good” and “Risk It All.”

On the second night, Usher invited DC artists as special guests. Rapper Wale performed “The Matrimony” and “No Hands,” R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn sang “You,” and EU's Sugar Bear led the crowd through the go-go hit “Da' Butt.”

The Past Present Future tour continues with two shows at Baltimore's CFG Bank Arena on August 23 and 24 before moving on to major cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. In December, the tour returns to Atlanta for the rescheduled performances on December 9, 10 and 12 at State Farm Arena, giving fans another opportunity to see Usher live.

Following the US tour, Usher will continue with the European tour, beginning with an eight-date performance at the O2 Arena in London on March 29, 2025. The European tour includes performances in Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin.

The tour follows Usher's breakout performance at the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show in February, where he was joined by artists such as Alicia Keys, HER and Ludacris.

His concert film also contributed to the Usher mania, USHER: RENDEZVOUS IN PARISwill also be shown in around 2,000 cinemas worldwide from September 12th to 15th and will offer fans a comprehensive insight into the current work of the “U Got It Bad” singer.

Earlier this month, Usher released a statement on social media apologizing to his fans for the tour delay.

“I was hoping that with physical therapy and medical treatment I would overcome the injury and be ready for the premiere,” he said in his statement on August 15. “Unfortunately, the injury has not healed yet and my doctors have advised me not to do any shows this week.”

He continued: “You'll still see a little bit of the past, a little bit of the present and a unique look into the future on the new date, but you'll also see 100% of me. The last thing I ever want to do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly awaiting the start of this tour.”

“However, I would not be the entertainer I am if I could not also give you my best physically. My team will inform you of the new date shortly. I can't wait to celebrate this legacy with you.”
